Byron Inouye is a 1986 graduate of James Campbell High School and completed his BFA in design from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1993.
Byron is the Senior Learning Technology Digital Arts Designer for the Curriculum Research & Development Group in the College of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His job includes collaborations to create curricula for grades K-12 and designing brochures, posters, and branding standards for University clients. Some of his more notable works include the logos for the University Laboratory School, Na Koa Anuenue football, and Pac-5 Athletics. He has illustrated a number of science, history, and math textbooks as well as a childrens’ book about mathematical relationships titled “Who Has More? The Great Flood.”
Freelancing under the name BeeEye Design since 1994, he has worked with a number of local companies to create logos and business communication solutions. He is still active in the art community participating in shows and pop ups and has his very own Pokémon Go Pokestop located on Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki. In his free time Byron enjoys baking, developing new Jello recipes, drawing, collecting LEGO minifigs, watching MCU movies, and playing video games.
He actively participated in Serteens from 1983 to 1986, including a term as Vice President of Sponsorship. Inspired by George Carter and the exceptional Serteens he met, he embraced academic curiosity and achieving higher goals. This sense of camaraderie within the club, largely due to George’s influence, drew him back to Sertoma in 2010. He has been an advisor since 2012.
